Amanda Emerson and Veronica Smith will be attending the Washington Educational Research Association (WERA) Conference in Seattle this week. Keynote speakers include David Conley and Pedro Noguera. Dr. Conley is a professor at the University of Oregon, and founder and President of EdImagine. He has a deep commitment to education, which he views as the engine and vehicle by which society can address issues of social injustice. He will be presenting The Changing Face of Readiness for College and Careers. Dr. Noguera is a professor at the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA. His research focuses on the ways in which schools are influenced by social and economic conditions, as well as by demographic trends in local, regional, and global contexts. He will be presenting The Limits and Possibilities of Education: The Role of Research in Transforming Schools. We hope to see you there!
