Congratulations to the 2017 Smith-Hamrick AWIS Scholarship recipient

25 Sep Congratulations to the 2017 Smith-Hamrick AWIS Scholarship recipient

At the AWIS Banquet on June 6th, 2017, Katelyn Tozer of UW Tacoma was one of eight young women introduced as recipients of the 2017 Seattle AWIS Scholarships.  She received the Smith-Hamrick AWIS Scholarship sponsored by data2insight founder, Veronica S. Smith and her wife, Natalie Hamrick.  Along with the other scholarship fund donors, Veronica and Natalie attended the banquet to present the scholarship to Katelyn.

The Seattle AWIS Scholarship program began in 1991 and has been awarding scholarships annually to undergraduate women majoring in STEM at Washington universities or colleges.  Since then, over $175,000 in scholarships has been awarded.  Recipients were selected based on academic excellence, financial need, motivation to pursue a science-based career, and a record of giving back to their communities.

Using the scholarship, Katelyn participated in the Discover Laos trip in August 2017.  Curious about how that trip was laid out?  Click here to see the itinerary she shared.

Data2insight is so proud of Katelyn and wishes her luck with opportunities that continue to come her way!
