2017 Best for the World Honorees

18 Sep 2017 Best for the World Honorees

There is little debate about the future world in which we’d like to live…There is a global movement of people using the power of business to achieve a higher purpose than profit maximization. They strive to use business as a force for good: good for workers, good for communities, good for the environment. They redefine success in business by competing to be not just best in the world, but best for the world.

Today, leaders of this global community standing up to Goliaths are honored on B Lab’s annual Best for the World list.  You can also read stories highlighting honorees from this year’s lists.  A total of 846 businesses across 52 industries from 48 countries are recognized on the full list of 2017 Best for the World honorees.

Congratulations to the two King County organizations who made it to the list:

  • Grounds for Change, a family owned and operated coffee roasting business located in the Pacific Northwest, is passionate about operating as a green business and they recently received a Washington award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainability. They are a member of 1% for the Planet and donate well over 1% of their total sales to various environmental organizations. Their donations have helped to support a local elementary school’s environmental stewardship program, advocate for migratory songbirds impacted by coffee cultivation, restore salmon habitat, and support collectives of women coffee producers and their families in Peru and Mexico.
  • Restorative Leadership Institute, cultivates leadership and enterprise that fulfills humanity’s potential to thrive in balance with all life.  They support purpose-driven organizations and planet-minded leadership with envisioning and implementing extraordinary possibilities. Through strategic consulting and participatory education, we build global capacity to translate inspired vision to sustainable reality.

Data2insight is proud to see such organizations be recognized for the work they do.
